Actor Idris Elba Pursues His DeeJay Music Career

The actor Idris Elba, 49, has been in the entertainment industry since 1994, and he is most notably known for his acting roles in television and film. What most people do not know is that he is a highly active DJ. He goes by the name DJ “Big Driis.”
Big Driis told Vanity Fair that right now his goals are set on focusing all his time and energy on music-making. Not just the average music that you might hear on the radio, but he loves electronic music. He loves spinning on those CDJ’s and controllers.
The Big Driis is no stranger to performing DJ sets.
So, who has he been spinning for?
- He played a deejay on Netflix’s Turn Up Charlie series.
- He has had the very distinct honor of being the deejay of choice for the royal family at the wedding reception of former star on the hit USA television series “Suits” now known as Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex.

Mr. Elba is a risk-taker, and he is not afraid of failure at all. Some critics say that he might as well kiss his acting career goodbye if the music industry rejects him. Well, that’s not exactly true. The actor Will Smith,53, is living proof. Smith did not enjoy remarkable success in the music business, but television and film have made him a remarkable success.
“I’ve dealt with the internal struggle of that over the years. So now I’m at peace and I’ve chosen: This is what I’m doing, and I’m going to do it. Some will love it, and some will hate it,” Elba told Vanity Fair.
That is an important lesson for everyone to learn because in life no matter what you want to do there will always be people who support you, and at the same time there will always be people who are against you.
Those who are against you are called “Haters.”
Like most the deejays, Big Driis was fascinated by turntables at an early age. The age of 4 to be exact.
There is just something magical about the look and feel of vinyl and turntables spinning around and around.
